This is an opportunity to be responsible for the development and implementation of a media and communication strategy to support Bathurst Regional Council’s diverse range of services, activities and events in one of Australia’s fastest growing regional cities. This is a position where a degree in Communication, Journalism, Media, Marketing or an equivalent together with 5 or more years working experience is essential. You will be responsible for delivering high quality written content across a broad range of platforms and will need excellent written and oral communication skills required to collect information, draft and edit material. You will have a proven track record in delivering media coverage in previous roles due to your strong relationships with a broad range of media. You will have demonstrated experience in producing and managing online communication in a previous role and specific experience in social media. You will have been involved in developing and implementing either on your own or as part of a team, media and communication strategies and be able to draw on this experience to deliver results for your organisation. You will have a strong interest and awareness of issues facing local government and a genuine understanding of community needs of a regional city.
Key requirements:
The successful candidate will coordinate Council’s relationships with media and key stakeholders to identify, develop and implement media and communications strategies in line with Council’s communication plans under the direction of the Manager Corporate Communication .The position is full time role and forms part of a team responsible for providing the marketing and communication services for the organisation. It works closely with all staff and elected Councillors and will contribute to a collaborative and cohesive culture within the organisation.
