About the Role
This position, whilst employed by Bathurst Regional Council, will be working for Centroc at their Bathurst office. Centroc is a regional collaboration of councils in Central NSW representing over 243,000 people covering an area of more than 72,500sq kms. It exists to advocate for and improve operational efficiencies of its member councils - Bathurst, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Forbes, Hilltops, Lachlan, Lithgow, Mid-Western, Oberon, Orange, Parkes, Upper Lachlan, Weddin and Central Tablelands Water.
The Contracts and Program Support Officer is responsible for contract administration, support to the regional procurement program, and support to varying Centroc programs and regional teams as required.
The key challenges of the role include undertaking activities to provide demonstrated cost savings to member councils, reporting to the Centroc Board, GMAC and other regional teams, maintaining flexibility while working under pressure to ensure competing priorities are met.
Duties include liaison with Council staff and contractors on a regular basis, seeking information to calculate and report on contract management fees, administration of contracts to ensure all records are kept up to date, seeking information from councils regarding participation in regional programming including procurement and a range of other administration duties/functions.
There will be occasional travel within the Centroc region involved with this job, which is usually achievable within the same day. A Council car will be provided for any travel outside of the Bathurst region.
Key requirements:
- Qualifications in contract management, business, office administration or other relevant area
- Superior written and oral communication including excellent negotiation skills and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in the operation of various computer packages
- Experience in updating/ maintaining databases/ registers
- Experience in well researched report writing
- Creative and analytical problem solving skills
- Experience in project management and contract management
- Well-developed understanding of internet and cloud based data administration
- Experience in implementing cost saving initiatives.
