Skillset Workforce in conjunction with Bathurst Regional Council are currently seeking applications for a full time 1st year Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice to complete their Certificate III Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.

This is a fantastic opportunity for applicants to join a well-known and prominent organisation whilst entering a full time, four-year placement that will provide both on the job experience and study. You will be allocated a dedicated Skillset Workforce Consultant who will support you through your Apprenticeship and at the successful completion of the role you will graduate with a nationally recognised qualification.

This entry-level opportunity is suited to someone who is highly-motivated, mechanically minded and is keen to pursue a career in the Heavy Vehicle industry.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the workshop team in the service, maintenance and minor repairs of a diverse range of vehicles and plant equipment.
  • Follow WHS procedures and workplace processes
  • Work one-on-one with senior mechanics
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service
  • Learn the foundations and content to develop skills and knowledge used in the Automotive Industry

Qualifications, skills and experience required

  • Keen interest the heavy vehicle mechanics trade
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • White Card or be willing to obtain a white card before commencement
  • Experience working in a hands-on industry
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and develop own skills and knowledge
  • Committed to the study component of the Apprenticeship
  • Current driver's license or own transportation to work
  • Prior study or work experience in automotive desired but not essential
